ST FAITH’S PRAYER DIARY - September 2010
Psalm 107:1 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.
Wednesday 1
Thank God for Paul and Sandra King and for the way they serve God by sharing the gospel and training Christians in France. Pray that the supporters’ evening at St Faith’s tonight would be an encouragement to Paul and Sandra, as we gather to hear more about their work and pray for them. Ask God to inspire us too to seek His Glory by sharing the gospel ourselves.
Thursday 2
Thank God for special celebrations, like Father’s Day, coming up this Sunday. Pray that God would give Kerry, Steve Ross and Sandy Bent insight into Romans chapter 4, as they prepare to speak this weekend. Ask God to bring men along to hear the gospel message and to be better equipped to be fathers.
Friday 3
Pray for Kerry as he speaks at a Men’s Outreach Dinner for Terrey Hills Anglican Church tonight. Ask that God would bring non-christian men along, and that they would be effectively pointed to Christ. The theme is ‘How to find Purpose in Life’.
Saturday 4
Steve & Narelle Etherington; praise God for the courage and faithful witnessing of the women in leadership roles within the churches at Umbakumba and Angurugu on Groote Eylandt. Pray for the conversion of young men to take up leadership and show strong examples of Christian living in their communities.
Sunday 5
As we celebrate Father’s Day today; pray that Christian dads will rely on God to give them the heart and wisdom they need to love their families well.
Pray for the Jelly Wobbles as they perform at 10.30 church today; that the Holy Spirit will convict hearts through their music and skits.
Monday 6
Pray for Ben Molyneux as he prepares to speak on our Mission Impossible Youth Camp this coming weekend. Pray that Ben would be faithful to God’s word (Ephesians) and relate well to the young people who have come along to the camp. Pray for Ben’s preparation time this week; that he’d be wise with his time and prepare well.
Pray for WAC’s leadership team as they meet together tonight; for wisdom to know God’s will.
Tuesday 7
Thank God for the gospel that gives us hope despite the struggles of this life, especially failing health. Pray for Roncevelle, Patricia, Kerry and the rest of the team who visit the Collaroy Nursing Home today to hold a service. Pray that the residents would be effectively pointed to the hope we have in Christ.
Pray for the Coastec Supporters’ meeting being held at the Venue tonight; that Chris Ekins will be encouraged as he meets with those who attend and that God will move people to prayerfully and financially support Coast Evangelical Church at Forster.
Wednesday 8
K & L; continue to pray for peace, order and just government. May the laws be just and a blessing to the people. Especially pray for Kent as he is asked to consult for local organisations which range from Christian to non-Christian and from non-government to government organisations. Ask God to give him wisdom and discernment.
Thursday 9
Thank God for the assurance of God’s love that we have in the gospel. Ask God to help Kerry to prepare effectively to speak on Romans 5:1-11 this weekend, as Paul teaches of God’s love shown in Christ. Pray that Kerry would glorify God by speaking faithfully about what God has done for us. Ask God to give Kerry energy as he speaks at five services this weekend.
Friday 10
Mission Impossible Youth Camp - pray that this weekend is a significant weekend in the lives of the young people who attend. Pray that God would speak to people through his Word as Ben Molyneux explains it and that God’s Spirit would draw people close to him. Pray that the weekend unites our youth community and that God would use it for his glory.
Saturday 11
Pray for Open Doors’ “Walk to Water” fundraising event today. Give thanks for those who are walking to raise funds for persecuted Christians in Ethiopia, ask that God will bring relief to these people through the money that is raised.
Pray for the women attending Women’s Katoomba Convention this weekend; that God’s word would transform their lives.
Sunday 12
Give thanks for the new Sunday service happening at the War Vets and for the people who have been attending. Pray for Tony and the newly formed leadership team as they plan and run the service each week. Give thanks also for the new volunteers who have joined the pastoral team.
Monday 13
Thank God that we can meet to encourage each other weekly in our Small Groups. Pray that staff and others would do a great job of writing studies for next term on Romans 9 to 16. Pray that the studies would lead us to understand particularly how this part of God’s Word should be applied in our lives.
Tuesday 14
Pray for the members of Mothers’ Union as they hold their monthly meeting today, particularly for Carolyn Nott in her role as President.
Pray for Ben Molyneux as he prepares to speak from Romans this week at our Clarke Street services. Pray that he would be wise in his preparation time, that God would speak to him as he digs deeper into Romans 6 and that he’d communicate God’s word effectively.
Wednesday 15
Thank God for answered prayer with the appointment of Bob Durbin as a second full time Chaplain at the War Vets. Pray for him as he commences work on the 20th. Give thanks that the RSL Care Board is supportive of the chaplaincy work within the Village.
Thursday 16
Pray for the parents and children who meet together at Gumtrees Playtime each Thursday; that it will be a place of friendship and support and where God’s love can be shared with those who don’t yet know him.
Friday 17
Pray for the residents who attend the Seaside Nursing Home Service. Pray also for Grant, Sandy, Alan, Helen, Cath, Margaret and Frede who serve at the meeting.
WAC Youth ministry – give thanks for the growth that we have seen through youth members inviting their friends. Pray for more leaders.
Saturday 18
Pray for the ‘Springtime Serenade’ dinner being held tonight at St Faith’s; that those who attend will enjoy a time of fellowship together as they share in a meal, music and games.
Sunday 19
Pray for Ed O’Conor (6.30 church) and Grant Gallant as they speak on Romans 6 today.
Monday 20
Thank God for those who serve us on our Parish Council (meeting tonight). This group advises Kerry with regard to ministry in the Parish and sets the budget each year. As they consider plans for the future and the budget for next year, ask God to give them a great passion to see the name of Jesus glorified on the Northern Beaches. Pray for Alan, Michelle, Stuart, Steve and the rest of this team; that they would be wise in discussions and planning.
Tuesday 21
Gumnut Kindy; give thanks for the good health of the staff throughout the winter months. Pray for the Kindy’s enrolment night tomorrow and the ongoing enrolment process for 2011. Continue to pray for the staff as they work to support children with special needs.
Wednesday 22
55+ meets today for fellowship and to receive Samaritan Purse boxes to fill with Christmas gifts for children in countries such as Cambodia. Pray that God will touch hearts with generosity.
Thursday 23
Thank God for the good network of Anglican Churches on the Northern Beaches. Pray for the Senior Ministers as they meet together today. Ask God to help Michael, David, Bruce, Robin, John, Jason and Kerry to see how they can work more co-operatively, so that more people on the Northern Beaches would hear the gospel and come to serve Christ. Pray that they would be able to see which groups of people are not currently being reached. Ask God to help Kerry to lead the meeting well.
Friday 24
Pray for Ben Molyneux as he speaks on a youth camp (24th-29th) for St Paul’s Carlingford - particularly to the senior high boys. Pray that Ben would be faithful in his preparation in the book of Acts, and that he’d communicate and relate well to these young men so that they would be encouraged and inspired to follow Jesus in their lives.
Saturday 25
Kerry, Grant and Ed O’Conor will be speaking from Romans 7 tomorrow; pray that God will give them clear insight into his word and that we will be open to hearing.
Sunday 26
Thank God for the work of Peter and Lyne as they share the gospel in South East Asia. As they visit us today, pray that they would be able to share with us what they are doing, and so stir us to be bold for Christ here. Pray that their time with us would be an encouragement to them as well.
Monday 27
Warriewood Brook Anglican Retirement Village; give thanks for the many opportunities Grant (chaplain) and his team of helpers have to minister God’s word to the residents. Give thanks for the volunteer training recently. Pray that the volunteers would continue to get to know the residents and share God with them.
Tuesday 28
Pray for Carole Robertson as she works amongst the sick, the elderly and their families at RPA and the aged care facilities; for strength and opportunities to share God’s love.
Wednesday 29
Pray for Genevieve Cribb (Director) and Jennie Lakos (Dep Director) as they oversee the work at the Cottage Counselling Centre. Pray that God will use the Cottage to bring healing and comfort to many in our community.
Thursday 30
Give thanks for the boys that come to Sweat (WAC’s primary aged boys’ group) each Friday. Pray that they would grow in understanding of the gospel and trust Jesus.
